UN CHIEF CONDEMNS COUP IN REPUBLIC OF NIGER

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has condemned the unconstitutional change in government in Niger, following the announcement of a coup led by soldiers. The coup leaders dissolved the constitution, suspended institutions, and closed borders. Guterres expressed concern for President Mohamed Bazoum's safety and well-being. The coup has been condemned by the African Union, ECOWAS, UK, US, and France.
