Five times Ballon d'or winner,  Cristiano Ronaldo, has become the first person in the world to have 500 followers on Instagram.

The Manchester United striker reached the milestone on Monday.

seven times Ballon d' or winner, Lionel Messi, is the second celebrity on the list with 375 million followers.

The two iconic footballers are the only athletes in the top 10 of the most followed people on Instagram .

Ronaldo is currently under much controversy after his interview with popular journalist, Piers Morgan,over his alleged ill treatment at Manchester United.
